August 2026 – Dealer Auction’s Retail Margin Monitor for July has reported yet another record-breaking month for the platform, with the diesel Land Rover Range Rover Evoque recording the highest retail margin ever achieved in the sub-£10,000 model category with £4,050. The Evoque also led the chart for models retailing over £10,000, with a margin of £5,250. And, in the sub-£10,000 category, the Land Rover Discovery Sport was hot on the Evoque’s heels, only £100 behind.

At brand level, Land Rover continued its impressive run from over the last two months. The brand clocked the strongest margin of 2026 for models retailing under-£10,000, and also topped the over-£10,000 chart, underlining the continued high demand across the used car market.

Elsewhere in the sub-£10,000 model chart, the Mazda CX-5 enjoyed a remarkable month across buyer and seller metrics, delivering a triple success. The SUV recorded the highest Autotrader retail rating, the year’s best CAP Clean performance and nearly equalled the fastest average selling time of all time at just 24 days – only one day shy of the record! Familiar favourites, including the Kia Sportage, Ford Kuga and Vauxhall Mokka X, also returned to the rankings, highlighting the continued popularity of practical family SUVs.

Dealer Auction’s Marketplace Director, Kieran TeeBoon, commented: “The Range Rover Evoque setting a new retail margin record under £10,000 highlights the strong profitability dealers can still achieve with the right stock. It was also interesting to see the Mazda CX-5 delivering an outstanding performance across several categories, making it a model to watch. It’ll be interesting to see if these chart toppers can maintain this momentum and sustained demand in the months ahead.”

The over-£10,000 model chart also saw the influence of electrified vehicles continue to gather pace. Two hybrid models – the Toyota RAV4 and Nissan Qashqai – secured places in the top 10, proving that dealer confidence in hybrid stock is on the rise along with continued consumer demand.

At manufacturer level, premium brands are holding strong across the marketplace. On top of Land Rover’s impressive performance, Mercedes-Benz also demonstrated impressive consistency with its third consecutive second-place finish.

Across the wider Dealer Auction platform, July was a consistent month. While several marketplace metrics returned to more typical levels after June’s highs, the total retail value of vehicles sold remained impressive at £49.7 million, auctions ending continued at healthy levels and there was a steady flow of fresh vehicles entering the marketplace, reflecting ongoing confidence from both buyers and sellers.

TeeBoon concluded: “Land Rover’s continued dominance across both value segments demonstrates the enduring strength of premium used vehicles, while the inclusion of two hybrid models in the over-£10,000 chart highlights the growing demand for electrified stock, which is really encouraging. Combined with another strong month for the platform, the market continues to show resilience and healthy dealer confidence, and it’ll be fascinating to see if these consistencies remain.”

About Dealer Auction

Dealer Auction is the UK’s leading digital remarketing platform. We give buyers and sellers more choice, better insight and greater margins. Dealer Auction is an independent company, created through a joint venture between Cox Automotive and Autotrader. For more information, visit www.dealerauction.co.uk.

Launched in January 2022, Dealer Auction’s Retail Margin Monitor tracks the potential retail margin that can be achieved on vehicles bought via Dealer Auction’s open network. We track models meeting two key criteria: more than 20 units sold with a retail price of less than £10,000 (we also track any standout models that retail at more than £10,000). We then compare the sold price for each model with the Autotrader market average to reveal the potential margin. For the brand table, we compare models with more than 50 units sold of models retailing at less than £10,000. We crunch the numbers at the start of every new month.

This edition analyses data from 1 to 31 July 2026.
