- Piccadilly Motors is selling the iconic car from Peter Kay’s sitcom ‘Car Share’ through Dealer Auction’s auction platform
- All sale proceeds will go directly to Candlelighters and Martin House Hospice
- Auction is open until Wednesday 27 January 2021
Dealer Auction, the UK’s leading digital wholesale marketplace, is selling the iconic car from Peter Kay’s ‘Car Share’ to raise money for charities Candlelighters and Martin House Hospice.
The famous red Fiat 500L, purchased at a previous auction by Piccadilly Motors, is currently live on the platform until Wednesday 27 January and includes the car door that was knocked off in the final series – signed by Peter Kay, Sian Gibson and the crew. 100 per cent of the sale proceeds will go directly to the two chosen charities.
‘Car Share’ ran for three series from April 2015 and followed the growing friendship between supermarket assistant manager John Redmond (played by Peter Kay) and promotions rep Kayleigh Kitson (Sian Gibson) as they take advantage of their company’s car-sharing scheme.
The British sitcom won numerous awards, including ‘Best Comedy’ at the National Television Awards three years running and picked up millions of fans along the way.
Simon Watts, Managing Director at Piccadilly Motors commented: “I bought Peter Kay’s ‘Car Share’ Fiat 500L at auction with the intention of raising a substantial sum of money for our chosen charities.
Due to the current pandemic and the restrictions we’re under, this has proven to be extremely difficult – therefore I thank Dealer Auction for helping us achieve our goal.
“Every penny raised will go to our two Yorkshire-based charities – Candlelighters, who we have supported for over 20 years, and Martin House Hospice. Both charities desperately need income to fund the great work they do, and so we need help from across the automotive industry to make a difference. Please do bid generously for this piece of comedy history.”
Candlelighters support children and their families facing cancer in the Yorkshire region. They invest in vital research programmes, fund vital equipment on children’s oncology wards and provide support to children and families through their Leeds-based hub, The Square, just one-minute from Leeds Children Hospital.
Martin House Hospice is in Wetherby, Yorkshire and helps children and young people with life-limiting conditions, along with their families, to live well while offering end-of-life care and support to the family in bereavement.
